In 1967 an entrepreneurial chemist identified a need to offer a medicine price report to fellow pharmacists and the Blue Book was launched. An ever increasing supply of medicines with regularly changing prices ensured that the pharmaceutical and medical industry relied heavily on this publication and its relevance has remained ever since. Publication of the Blue Book (and the companion Green Book) became the central activity of Pharmaceutical Publishers.
Pricing updates are received throughout the day and these data are captured, collated and distributed by weekend to the national subscriber base. In keeping with the need for greater speed of communication and electronic integration, the Pharmaceutical Blue Book is also distributed via the Internet on www.pbb.co.za.
Our close contact with the medical industry has resulted in us also evolving an appropriate printing and packaging service. Over 1000 doctors and pharmacists now order their specialised print requirements from the company as well.
