The foundation stone of the Alex White Holdings Group was laid in 1913 with the formation of Alex White and Company. In the eventful years since, the division has concentrated on sheet fed litho printing and has established itself as a leading specialist printer.

Based in Lea Glen, Roodepoort, but supplying customers nationwide, Alex White and Company prides itself on it's quality standards, service levels and long standing customer relationships.

With a definite bias towards packaging, Alex White's niche markets all require in-depth knowledge of our client's operations as well as investment in specialised equipment. Chief amongst these niches is plastic printing. We are the leading supplier of in-mould labels in Southern Africa. Specialised press modifications and unique sheeting and printing equipment have helped us establish a significant market presence. Food, household and industrial plastic packaging is increasingly decorated by our synthetic labels.

Through our license agreement with Floramedia International, Alex White and Company has built up a dominant position in the supply of packaging and point of sale materials to the horticultural industry.

As the world's leading horticultural picture library, Floramedia has more than 100 000 photographs and illustrations and staff photographers have developed a deep understanding of plants. Many images are the result of travels around the globe; others are shot in purpose-built trial gardens.

The photographic expertise has combined well with Alex White's print creativity. Working closely with suppliers, we have developed light fast/ fade resistant inks and plastic, which withstand the effects of the sun and rain in the nursery or garden centre. Paper and foil laminates have been designed for seed packet manufacture and they, together with custom built heat sealers, guarantee world class production and cost efficiency. As a result we are the leading seed packet producer in East and Southern Africa.

The library is entirely electronically based, which is allowing us to develop strategies to move into even more innovative products to meet the demands of the gardening public.
